Philippine Boxing Historical Society and Hall of Fame
Mission, Purpose, and Goals
Our Mission
The Philippine Boxing Historical Society and Hall of Fame exists to preserve the stories, spirit, and legacy of Filipino fighters. These were men who gave the world more than wins—they gave a country pride, resilience, and a rhythm all its own.
Who We Are
Founded in April 17, 2020 in Mactan, Cebu by Emmanuel Rivera and formally inaugurated in Manila’s Santa Cruz district in March 23, 2024, the Society grew out of a personal journey: a boxing fan piecing together old clippings, worn gloves, and family stories. What began as a tribute to those nearly forgotten has become a gathering place—for memory, for recognition, and for restoration.
We curate original biographies, digitize and attribute rare photographs, and preserve fight gear passed quietly from past generations to the next. Each piece speaks to a time when Filipino boxers fought for more than titles. They fought to be seen and accepted.
What We Aim to Do
- Build a permanent online archive and, in time, physical exhibitions both in the Philippines and abroad.
- Publish works that educate and elevate— books, essays, documentaries, and restored images.
- Formally recognize the fighters, trainers, and storytellers who shaped the sport through our Hall of Fame.
- Work with families, libraries, museums, and historians to keep these stories alive and accessible.
- Inspire young people, and all aspiring writers, reporters and aficionados to see boxing not only as sport, but as a window into Filipino identity and dignity.
